New Chronograph Out

I dumped my old LR for a Garmin because I missed a lot of shots with the old LR. At this point, the Garmin has been absolutely great for me, but I am intrigued by the Caldwells ability to generate BC. I'm curious, for any of you who have used it, does it really accurately give you true BC?
You can't measure velocity over a long enough range to get an accurate BC with a commercial radar system. Either use the box BC and tune your solution using measured drops or use something with AB's calculator and use a CDM. CDMs are produced with a much larger radar system that costs tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and can track bullets to several hundred yards.

It's useful to provide a starting point for bullets that don't have a listed BC. I use my Labradar to calculate BC for cast bullets and it's reasonably close. It's not better than what's listed on the box for anything else.

Agreed! As I understand it, the Velociradar (<$500 - US company but unit is probably made in China?) measures 10 data points to calculate the BC within 100 yards using CHIRP RADAR technology, and the FX (<$900 - Swedish company but unit is made in Taiwan) measures 4 data points, but I am not sure at what distance (I saw references up to 300 yards but I am not clear on that) using Doppler RADAR technology. Technology and innovations come a long way for end-users to try and enjoy. Choice, choices, choices ...

I also recently purchased the new LR LX after the plug failed me on the original Labradar. Over the 2nd 1/2 of the summer I had the chance to visit/shoot with members of the range I belong to here in Minnesota that owned either the Garmin or new LR. I personally came to the conclusion that the new LR was better suited for me and my shooting needs. YMMV.
Hey if you can message me, re your KIDD. I'm new and won't let LE message you yet..thx

Thx. Gonna have to find a way to download that information to my LX
I am looking forward to your evaluation/experience with the update. The ability to measure the BCs might be a game changer for the LRLX owners and possibly those looking for a new Chrono with this option.

I still have my LabRadar. The USB port failed and I didn't feel like buying batteries (that aren't cheap) to power it. If that hadn't happened I wouldn't have switched to the Garmin.
I had the same problem with my lab radar. I got an RMA number and a Garmin, and still have not sent the lab radar in to be repaired. I have not touched it since receiving my Garmin.

Well dang... The power / select button on my Garmin quit working. First it would just flash on then go off, then it went off and stayed off. I plugged it in to check the charge (over 60%) and it came on but won't turn off or let me do anything else. I sent them a warranty request. We'll see how that goes.

BUMMER! I hope you get it resolved.

So I got a reply. This is my answer to the reply. Reply below this. Original request for warranty service below their reply...

I don't mean to sound rude but you're way off base. I was using the Xero. I started to create a new session and it turned off. I turned it on, it came on for 1 second or less, then turned off. I tried to turn it on 6 or 7 times and I got the same result. I thought the charge might be low so I plugged it in. It turned on and it started charging. When it reached full charge I pressed the power button. Nothing happened. It stayed on. I couldn't turn it off. The power button NO LONGER WORKS. I can't change menus. I can't reset. I can't download. I can't start a new session. I can't look at past sessions. That is why it needs to come back for repair. There are a lot of people on a couple of shooting forums that want to know how Garmin handles warranty work. To be fair I probably didn't supply enough info but this reads like "Hey, I smashed my car into a wall and now my engine is smoking and it won't start. Tech support: Oh… have you tried the headlights and windshield wipers?"

It's broken. The primary function button doesn't do anything.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry that you are having issues with your C1 Pro Chronograph. You might consider resetting the device as a troubleshooting effort:Resetting the Xero C1 Pro Chronograph

Do you know the last time the device mentioned a software update being applied? I was a bit curious what the current software version is. If the reset did not address the issue, we will need to exchange the device under warranty.

Thank you for choosing Garmin,
