Elijah is hard to beat for a go-to. I too picked up a bottle of the toasted to try asap!
Yes it is. Great bourbon at the price point. Sams has it for $26Despite my desire to try other bourbons, Elijah Craig remains a go to. I picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig Toast to try this week.
If you or @Trm82 run across a Elijah Craig barrel proof from just about any run please give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Larceny barrel proof are good, but a little hit or miss. ECBPs are just good and better.Despite my desire to try other bourbons, Elijah Craig remains a go to. I picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig Toast to try this week.
Agree with this. Costco often has the toasted but sometimes has the barrel proof. It's worth the wait!If you or @Trm82 run across a Elijah Craig barrel proof from just about any run please give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Old Charter was one of my dad's favorites. He always mixed with ginger ale. Probably the first whiskey I ever tasted. I would always sneak a pull or two from his solo cup when he wasn't paying attention. I was around 8 or 9 at the time and it didn't take much. It was also his cough medicine liquor. I received quite a few doses of liquor, lemon, and sugar or honey as a kid.Very similar to 10 yr Old Charter if you ever had it!
Curious what bourbons did you like the best? TIAI just got home from a trip to Louisville. A close friend bought 25 barrels of bourbon as an investment and was invited to spend a couple days touring distilleries. Lucky me got to join him. It was great trip and I learned a great deal about the Kentucky bourbon industry. The tastings were awesome although this led me to buying too many bottles. Highly recommend planning a trip to Bourbon country!
I'm enjoying the Toasted Barrel more than I thought I would. It's a good sweeter version of EC, but not too sweet. I'll probably have it on my shelf from now on.My first pour of EC Toasted Barrel was last night. Attempted to compare a few bourbons I have on hand. I never made it past 4. All were quite tasty.

I wish I had a sophisticated palette that some have. As mentioned in previous post, the trip to Louisville was great. I was able to sample many bourbons that are more difficult to find locally. My favorite on the trip was Weller. The EC Toasted was very smooth and tasty, but I was not able put it way ahead of the Small Batch. I will say I prefer Basil Hayden Toast over BH Small Batch.Curious what bourbons did you like the best? TIA
