So because I get tired of swapping the spotter off the tripod I fashioned this mount. Anyone else running something similar? I know there's fancier rails out now but using what I got. Going to use it on a hunt next week, see how I like it.

Looks like a clever solution. How is recoil with the rifle saddle centerline that much off the tripod center? There will be a twisting (torque) moment….just how much?

I can let you know in a week. It's sturdy despite the offset. I did try to keep everything as close to centerline as i could. I think if I brace my left hand on the tripod leg that it should mitigate the twisting. It's for hunting so 1 or 2 shots. I wouldn't go shoot a match with it.

This would probably work good at the range. I would prefer a good pair of binoculars in the field.

Adding a good spotting scope to a tripod in the field that already has a rifle attached starts to add weight and is cumbersome.

I'm not running the rifle off it all the time. Just leaves the option readily available.
