SCAMMERS AGAIN !!!

I didn't even think about that LOL... Call them back ask them if they knew their vehicle warranty has expired lol..

Same thing just happened to me. I sent a PM to a member earlier today regarding a classified ad and then just a few minutes ago got a text from that same number 812-674-0293 claiming to be be the member with details about the item and asking legit questions. I never gave out my cell number so no clue how they got it. I responded back asking how they got my cell number and they responded saying they were checking my feedback and came across it on one of my old threads.

Funny u updated this I had one try to get me yesterday off the Rockslide forum on a scope I was asking about. I Pm the owner and tried to get the guy to give me a address. but he didn't.

As long as everyone just stays smart they won't get anyone. I you didn't give someone a number it is a scam. Get people you don't know to provide a Pic with screen name time stamped. If they appear super eager they are a scammer. Last but not least, shoot first, ask questions later.

That's true but if you ask them if they are around the merchandise (back them into a corner) then they should be able to produce it in 5 minutes. If they take longer it is photo shopped. If it is still a scammer they are **** good then.

I had the same thing happen about 3 weeks ago. I did a PM to a seller asking the price on a gun stock. A few minutes later I get a text saying $120. I paid it with PayPal F&F.

Then he texts about the rifle action (also in the ad) and we came to terms on the price after a back & forth. That was $500, paid the same way. $620 gone.

Questions on site security:

1) how did he hack into the site to get my phone number to text me?

2) how was he able to know that I just PM'd a person about a specific item?

The person was American based on his use of words, no typos, excellent grammar, etc. I summarized what happened & emailed it to this website but never got a reply. I've changed the site password, but am sure it makes no difference.

Never respond to a text unless you have given your phone # to the party. It's a scam! All hackers should be… disposed of.
He didn't hack into anything. You posted your phone number in a post a few years ago. I found it in about 2 minutes. They watch the classifieds, when someone post "pm sent" (like you did) or "ill take it" they search that persons post to see if they posted their phone number somewhere and then immediately send a text posing as the seller.

Never post in the thread! Those days are long gone your asking to get scammed unless you only respond to a PM from that person. And then you have to watch carefully because they will create a account with a handle that's VERY close to the sellers, ie XsimonX is the real seller, they will create a handle like Xsim0nX and pm you.
