Just wanted to put up a super quick review regarding the new Schmidt Bender 6-36x56mm. I have always wanted one of these, just never pulled the trigger until I saw that they had it in a mouse gray color and that seemed like it would be perfect for the new to me (used) Lane Precision Rifle that I just picked up from a member on here.
First impression out of the box, this is a long scope…and it measures out to the 16.25" as listed, but mentally I am so used to Schmidt's hunting lineup that I just didn't expect it to be that long. I'm sure that if you are more familiar with their PMII lineup this will not be a surprise to you. It did come with caps for both the objective and ocular lenses, and they are super good quality, and if you know tenebrax, then you know they are the best you can get. Got it all mounted up and took it to the range last night. The image is really good on it…I expected it to be a bit dim compared to the other Schmidt's I have, but from an image quality, looked exactly as good as my Polar T96's. Edge to edge on both the upper and lower end is incredible. The adjustable parallax integrated with the illumination knob works great. It only took me a few times of messing with it to feel good about reaching up without looking to move it. Tracking wise, it is dead on. The .338 Reaper shoots roughly 1/2" - 3/4" groups out at 100 yards with the load I have for fire-forming the brass out of .338 Lapua brass. I ran it up 5 full mils and center to center the group was perfectly 18 inches high. Ran it back down and the next group was right in the center of the first group. One of the things that I noticed is that the eyebox is super forgiving! I didn't once find myself searching to see the target through the scope…I can't say that about the ATACR scopes that I have used in the past. First impression, overall, this thing rocks and is well worth the price tag on it. I really thought that as a tactical scope I would have to sacrifice on image quality, but nothing is farther from the truth. I'm excited to start stretching it out bit with the Reaper throwing 300 grain OTM's at around 3k!
