7mm JRS

Hey Fred, the gun writer John Sundra was the originator of this wildcat round he hunted the World and wrote many a great articles . If I can dig up some info I'll pm you here , Cheers jjmp.😉🥳

When I was more of a wildcat guy, I looked at this cartridge 20+ years ago. I liked Jon Sundra and he did come up with a cool cartridge.

Just for simplicity sake and at a slight cost in performance, I just ended up with a 280 Ackley Improved.

If you're really into wildcats, then the 7mm JRS is worth tinkering with. If not, I would just set the barrel back and re-chamber to a 280 AI.

So longer coal then a 7 prc with a .473 bolt face? Is it based off the 30-06/it's parent case? Would you need a CIP mag to feed 180+ gr bullets? Without putting the boattail past the neck shoulder junction. Anybody know?

Thanks.

I emailed Randy Selby and this is what he suggested.

Left to right 280, 280rcbs, 280 ack, 7mmJRS
The JRS is about as far as you can go with that cartridge. Maybe the 280 Sherman goes a bit father.
