Yes.Is this a dumb idea?
Snag the Worksharp.Eventually might snag the Worksharp field sharpener but I thought it might work to just take like 800 grit sandpaper instead to save some weight. Is this a dumb idea? Was also considering just bringing one of my diamond plates.
Deer skinning gets all my pretty knives of various steels. Hogs get the replaceable scalpel jobs!Have went to Magnacut and 35v steal for hunting knives so sharpening in the field in not usually needed. Having said that there is a workshop field sharpener in my pack. They work great for me....even for home sharpening.
Buck and MKC will sharpen after the season to have them ready for next year if you are not into sharpening them yourself.
Another trick is to use two knives, one for the hide and another for actually cutting up.
Or you can use a replacement blade unit......dont have or used one myself but they are an option lol
