300 Win Mag ELD-X load testing?

212 ELDX 41 grain of Accurate 4064 26 inch 1/10 twist howa at 2470fps; (308 Win). Shoots right at 3/4 MOA. Tested at 630 yards in some wind. Wind call was a little off but was still sub MOA. Definitely do the job on a deer at that distance. Actually good enough for elk at that distance.

Awesome to know your shooting that heavy of a bullet with a 308, I just picked up a Tikka Veil 308 and I worked up a nice load with lupua brass and Varget powder with 168-G Berger VLD and on my first powder test I shot a clover leaf at 100-yards all 3 bullets touching each other more than 1/2 way in a dime with a new barrel rite out of the box. That's the first time that has ever happened with me on a new rifle.

My Savage 110 Classic 1:10 is running the 220 ELDX over 69.5 gr IMR4831. Getting right at 2800 fps. It is one of my my accurate and consistent rifles. To get 2650 in mine, I would be at 65.5 gr, but my barrel has less then 100 shots. Surprisingly (or not), I found my best COAL at 3.350 (230 otl), which is Hornady book, go figure.
Thanks for the info, I know I will go higher on the velocity.

I know this is kinda late to this but, this is a picture from my Baurgra HMR-PRO in 300 WM. Small bore tar, to be shot at 50yd. Reduced for shooting at 50'. Shot at 100 YDS. All on Rt side have 3 holes in black. And rifle had only Less than. 100 rds down range, just breaking in! Better now with much more now. Also using H-1000 @79.5 gr, and 180 gr spbt .LRP. Mixed brass. This is for me a Keeper!
That's most impressive shooting. All at 100 yds...great! Thank you for the info.

Has this thread really been running 8 years?

Got one people might not think of here...

CVA Cascade with #3 contour barrel, 1-10 twist @ 24". 212 eldx @ 3.550 oal over 81g N568.

DONT GO BUYING IT ALL UP! Lol,

Getting 2945 fps with 4 fps SD. Chamber fired Hornady brass, 93g water. Up to 6 firings so far, probably gonna toss it after this one. Averaging .8 moa.

GRT shows this at 67,500 -68,000 psi so, definitely over max pressure but I don't get any signs on primers or brass.

Has anyone with a 300 Win Mag had a chance to shoot the ELD-X bullets yet? I curious how they are grouping and what kind of speed you are seeing with them so far?

Any load data would be appreciated.
I have had great test results with the 212-ELD-X using 215-M primer with Retumbo powder. My fastest speed went 3009 FPS with no signs of high case pressure with Hornaday brass neck turned to 11.000 wall thickness ,butt I had a 3 shot group over 1.5 inches so my barrel don't like that speed. I have a 300 win-mag Savage Long Range Hunter with a bull barrel. So the load for my rifle with that bullet is 79.5 G Retumbo shot at 100-yards at 2945 FPS and I was lucky enough to get single digit speed variance. My group is 3 bullet holes touching each other with just a hair larger than 1/4 inch MOA @ 100-yards. I also have great results with Berger 210-VLD. Keep in mind this load shot fast for that size bullet with a 300 win-mag butt you need to find the speed that your barrel likes and that will give you a tight group and stay safe.

I've got a question, I've got a tikka t3x in 300wm, I have a chassis on the way but I've been loading the berg 210s and 220eldx with 7828ssc and H1000 at mag restriction (3.370). little while back I was working up a load with the 220s with H1000 and got a 12fps ES at 2864fps but my group was crap. Roughly 3 inches. As I got closer to hunting season I loaded a soft load that grouped .68 inches at 100 at 2748 fps and a 7fps ES. I thought I had a good load with the 210s and 7828. Multiple outings under .75in then I went out the week before opening day and got a 2.5 inch group and scary velocity spikes. I usually get right at 2875 but this day I had one at 2971fps! And a low at 2860fps. No idea why as the elevation was the same, barometric pressure was very close and temp was 7 degrees colder. Any thoughts on how to clean this up?

which primer

I run Winchester large rifle magnums in both Hornady and federal nickel plated brass, don't know why but I see better results from the fed brass.
i just asked only because of temp and case volume when some state/suggest using magnum primers when 60gr + is used. i've only used cci250's and have acquired other brands in the last 2 years (fed gm215m, ccibr2, rem 9 1/2, win wlrm). i haven't tested any of those against my proven 264wm load i've used for 40 years (61.3gr imr4831 w/ sierra 140sbt & cci250). after 2,500+ rounds thru my dad's pre64 ('61 model) 264wm sporter (26" 9T) i haven't shot it in 10 years. started shooting it when i was 11 ('76) and started reloading it in '84 (18 years old).

I used a R700 LR. I had the same effect. Was using 178gr with RL26 to great effect. Then one day it went to 4-6" groups, over 100 loads and various factory ammo later ive had no better results. Given up on the gun, waiting for my gunsmiths books to open and im gonna rebarrel to 338 win.

Hopefully you can work through and solve your issue. Seems i couldnt with mine.

I have been testing the 178s in 308 Win....varget, N550 and 2000MR. All provided sub moa groups with N550 giving 1/4 moa at 200 yards from a20" barrel. My next test willbe with Ram Tac and BLC2
