I'm looking for some light weight gtx type hiking boots . Unfortunately I require a size 14 so that rules out many . I am currently viewing Crispi and don't mind the price point if that's what it is . Used to wear Danners but they no longer make the particular pair I preferred . Any recommendations would be appreciated .

Boots are gonna be subjective but I've had a pair of Scarpa Terra GTX for a couple years now and am very happy. High quality construction and I loved that they are quality leather without seams to fail. I put my cork Meindl insoles from my old hikers in them because they were broke in to my foot and I think Meindl cork insoles are the best thing since sliced bread. Campsaver often has very good deals on high quality boots.

I also wear 14 and some years ago a friend who was a 10th mountain ranger (US Army) recommended Asolo boots which I was familiar with so I went to my local REI store and tried them on. They are the most stable and comfortable mountain boots I own. I did get the goretex version

I am a big fan of Scarpa as well. I have three different models, four if you count shoes, and have no complaints about any of them. They were the only boot I could find at the time that fit narrow feet - although I hear they now also produce a wider boot. Most boots seem to be made for people who spent their lives wearing sandals or tennis shoes.

Is anything in a size 14 "lightweight "? 😄

It's surprising how much weight can be saved when using different materials on that big of a shoe. The difference in my wife's shoe weight is almost imperceptible to me, but the variation in weight in my size is rather profound.

Have had scarpa, crispi is on the list of ones to try. Right now I'm rocking a pair of now discontinued Solomons that were so good we grabbed three pair. Seems like companies are starting to bring out more size 14 stuff, however it's often sporadic runs.
