Rebuilt 700 in 270 Win

I've customized a handful of Rem 700 rifles in the 270 Win caliber. Never could get Nosler brass to work either. ES was high like others have experienced. All of the guns shoot Winchester brass, Proof Sendero Light barrel in 1-8 twist, the 170gr EOL, .5 MOA or better, 59.5-60.7 grains of H1000 at velocities from 2830-2895. All of the ES's for every gun are under 25 fps. Guns are throated an extra .110". The necks on the new Winchester brass are rough and not round outta the bag. I rework the necks and have a process I use with mandrels and a bushing die and just a hand feel of how the final mandrel comes out of the neck. My 7Mag builds with my neck process my ES is under 15fps.

I bought my Rem700 30-06 in 1969, started reloading then and did not have a chronograph for a long time. I developed a load that produced bug holes on the target at 150yds. I loaded up 1000 rounds of this load and am still shooting out of that batch today with the same accuracy. Many years later I took the opportunity to shoot with a buddy that has a chronograph. To my dismay my ES numbers were not what we expected from such an accurate round. I just accepted the fact that the ES numbers were weird and took the on target results as the reality of it all.

It needs more cowbell- possibly a brass switch also. I would have him test with a bit hotter primer than the cci 200. I run the wlr a LOT in the 270 and 30-06 and have been known to toss a wlrm or 215 in to calm down an erratic load also. I hardly use 200's anymore (I have a few around from when a buddy's 30-06 was running 4064 and 150's), and my 210's are reserved for a few 7-08 loads and such. I have 1 odd duck 338win load that wants a 210 also but I won't hunt that load: summer only.

Buddy had his old 700 270 rebarreled to 270Win again, with a factory duplicate contour 1:8 3-groove Lilja @ 24". It shoots 140gn AcuBonds @ 3130fps via R-23. He bought a bunch of Peterson Brass for it.

The target is @ 200yds and shows shots #11-16 down the pipe:

So I have a question for everybody on here regarding this conversation that is going on. I have a Remington model 270. That my brother bought from Walmart when they were getting rid of all their rifles and have been told that the ones that were sold to Walmart. We're pressed in barrels. Is there any way to tell whether it is or not?Would like to pull the barrel off the action and replace it with one of the heart barrels there.Talking about on here now. Please help it shoots really well 145 grand E LDX ammo. But trying to see if I can get a really good barrel. That is threaded for a muzzle break for my grandkids to shoot hunting

Model 700? If so, look into the front scope mount hole and you'll see the bbl threads.
