I changed my 300rum to a 300tejas it shoots 3200fps very accurately
Lapua 300PRC brass
CCI250
N570
230 Hyb
2995fps from 26" 1:9"
Got 3026 & 3042 on the next couple charge weights but started to open up.
Yeah i dont believe i would be able to get much more then 2600 safely using a 245. A change of components and barrel would have to be my option. So if i can find something that will already fit in my gun without having to buy a new action, that would be my goal. So here i am at the 300 rum (or a variant) or a 300 prc (or a variant)I have a buddy who has a 28" 300SM pushing 245s @ 2800. But he can't load for crap...
This is a LONG RANGE HUNTING FORUM.Who on earth uses a 34" barrel on a hunting rifle?
lol how far are you shooting animals from? This is a LONG RANGE HUNTING FORUM.
Those of us that hunt TRUE LR use the tools required to do such things with the best that we can. This means LONG barrels, steady rests and bags, scopes and other gadgets to do so.
I see so much banter here about 16.5", 18", 20" & 22" barrels it amazes me.
Who uses these barrel lengths for true LR hunting?
Unbelievable!
Well I got tired of packing a 30 inch barreled rifle for years. This is a LONG RANGE HUNTING FORUM.

I have both a 378 Weatherby, and recently I got myself a new 338-378 Weatherby. I thought about getting a 30-378 but due to this LRH forum, I bought the 338 instead. Thanks to all y'all 338 shooters! Having said all that, I can only say that you would LOVE a 30-378 Weatherby. Fast and flawless. And strong, too!I would just go with a 30-378 Weatherby.

2 things, we are not allowed feeders, baits or driving our deer, blinds are allowed but cannot be used with as a permanent fixture.I shot a mtn goat at 1060 a couple weeks ago
A b&c desert bighorn this year at 650
Shot another 180 desert sheep at 900 two years ago
Handful of antelope in the 600-750 range
Probably the same for mule deer
Shot a 51" bezoar ibex at 575 and a 40 degree incline. That was a fun shot
So none of these are where your waiting for whitetails to show in a blind with a bench set up. Where they are coming out to a feeder and you have all day to get everything ready. That's not even a challenge
We, my spotter and myself, shoot to around 800-900 metres, but take far more game at 600-700 metres. Our bush here is difficult to hunt, spot and stalk is almost always an uphill or downhill shot with tree ferns and grass trees in the way.lol how far are you shooting animals from?

I shoot several 24-26" barrels with a 9" can. Does that count?Who on earth uses a 34" barrel on a hunting rifle?
