I rebuilt this BDL a few months back for a customer after he wanted something a little more accurate. I think I was able to exceed his expectations on this one! I know a lot of guys will look at the target and say BS, but I have no reason to doubt it, he's a straight forward guy and has no reason to embellish.

Started as a 270 BDL, Blueprinted the action, tuned the ignition, got a new trigger tech Special, new recoil lug, Hart 1-9 twist #5 if memory serves. Pure Precision Altitude, and a Hawkins crown shouldered brake. The metal was cerakoted black.

He has been having issues with ES being out of the ordinary with large spreads. He said it always shot pretty decent 1/2-3/4" even with the ES problem. He worked through a bunch of issues to try and resolve it with the help of some well knowledge friends. He also mentioned some factory Hornady ELDx ammo shot like .4's at 300 yards! After an interrogation yesterday I told him not to change anything but the brass and see if it changes anything. Well...... guess it worked. The gun is shooting above even my expectations.

How many shots did he have down it? Could it also be that it "broke in"? Whatever it was, it looks good now!

Really cool rifle. Love the 700! I've had issues with nosler brass myself. Not that extreme, but two other makers I had setting around shot better. I've been having luck loading for people using starline. Maybe I've just been lucky so far.

Just a side note, the barrel on this rifle is top notch. Shooting three different bullet and powder combos into small groups at 275-300 yards! Keep in mind it's a #5 contour as well. The guy that threw it all together probably did an OK job too!

We did discussed Starline, but he had some others he was going to try first. There is also the possibility to use Lapua 30-06 and neck it down and form it, but it would end up being about 0.045" short in the neck.

About 300, so should be past that point.

The last test group I shot out of it was in the .3's or .4's @ 100 before handing it over which I was happy with. Didn't take much work to get there ether. I test everything with a Garmin so nothing out of the ordinary at the time. I do remember a few months back he was getting his desired components dialed in and his testing procedure at the time was not optimized. We worked on that and he was getting some decent groups before he started paying more attention to the velocity and then purchased a Garmin Xero. He did ask me a few questions in the time since, but it wasn't till he went through a few powders and a few different bullets that I mentioned the only thing left is that brass. He has some friends that are very knowledgeable and got him set up with a very good reloading processes along with helping him with some reloading issues in the meantime as well. All that to say that when I talked to him a few days ago everything I suggested he had already tried. I do believe the previous time I talked to him I mentioned the brass could be the issue as well.

The customer is a long time hunter, but just got into reloading in the past year or so. He is very meticulous and has learned A LOT in the past year.
Those ESs using the Nosler brass were crazy high. What's the thinking as to what about the brass caused such issues?
Has to be variable case capacity. I instructed him to do some H20 volume measurements and let me know. He has an A&D FX120i so he should be able to get some good measurements.

Trying to read on here to see where he purchased his barrel. For that rifle, who is the manufacturer of the rifle barrel? I don't think I can find it. Can you elaborate 11 Washington and was going to purchase a benchmark barrel? For mine
