270/300 prc

I asked the other day about thoughts on building a .277 caliber shooting the 170 vld. Thanks for all the answers and ideas of build.
But the one that really got my attention was the 27/300prc. has anyone built this wildcat. and thoughts of it. or expected velocity from it say with 23-24" barrel. Lightweight build build for packing, mountain hunts. already have lots of 7mm,30cal.,and .25 caliber. just lacking in 27. but like idea of the 170 vld

That would be a lot like a 27 Nosler. Sort of like a long action 6.8 Western. If throated for the 170 Berger it would be a great setup.

I run a 270 Weatherby, PRC would be close to this, maybe 50fps in it.
If you go this route, what velocity are you wanting?
Personally, I would go RUM with a 7.5" twist.

Sounds like a lot of effort to build a rifle that will never resell to anyone. Never see a factory round in your lifetime. Just get a 7 PRC. Or Hornadys could come out with one next month.

Call JGS or Manson and order the reamer. If you get it set up correctly you should be able to use a 300 PRC bushing die to resize.

Reinventing the wheel I guess can be entertaining....but sounds to me like you'll just end up with a ever so slightly better 270 WSM. !!
