Best 6.5 CM for whitetail

I put a 6.5 together for deer season this year but I'm not overly familiar with the caliber and was wondering what factory ammo everyone is using for whitetail. It's zeroed with Winchester 125gr whitetail that does shoot sub MOA @ 100 yards but it seems to me that a heavier bullet may be better. The farthest I'll be shooting is 400 yards on my Kansas trip. I'd rather not get into hand loads in case my luggage gets sent to Florida while I get sent to Kansas.
If you are referring to the Winchester Deer Season XP in 125g, if it shoots well for you at your max range, you should be fine.

My 6.5 CM harvested WT deer in the last 4 years at 200-250 yards DRT. Good luck!

I don't shoot a 6.5 CM, but do shoot a 260, I've had good luck with Sierra 120gr Pro Hunters. Haven't shot a deer past 125 yards with one though.

Yes, sorry I meant the xp deer season. I was looking at whitetail Hornady on the net right before I posted.

I mostly hunt out of a small box blind with a suppressor, so I had my 6.5 CM barrel shortened to 16". I was worried about bullet expansion at longer distances so I looked around and the Federal Terminal Ascent has a much lower minimum velocity for bullet expansion than most (Accubond Long range too, but could not find them in factory ammo). So far, 3 deer, dead. Furthest run was 50 yards with a full frontal shot at 200 yards.

I feel there's a story to be told on this🤔

Would it help if I told everyone that it identifies as a 308?😆

When I first got my 6.5 Creedmoor I used Hornady Whitetail ammo and it shot well and I killed several deer. After a few year I started to reload and it shot even better and I killed more deer. I use TSX 120's now but the Hornady was a good factory round. Over the years I used 143 ELDX and 130 Gameking and they killed deer just fine too.
