First time posting on here and the first thing to pop up is 300 RUM. I picked up my second rum this year, a 700 sendaro had it threaded for a brake and started loading some 220 eld-x from my last rum. It didn't take long to find a load to get me by for the rest of the year and boy did it prevail. First outing got my a groundhog at 280 and second hog and new personal record of 942 yards and got the shot on video to boot! If I figure out how to post pictures and videos I will. Load is 89.6gr h1000 220 eldx Peterson brass at 3060fps
That it does indeed hoping to take a whitetail with it this coming season. I'm running it suppressed now so I don't need to remember ear plugspahunter95……Welcome from North Central Wyoming!
And the 300 RUM makes a darn good varmint cartridge! memtb
Why would you change after so much good luck with the 300 RUM... Ya never ever get off a Winning Horse. And always bet on the Champion and you will only lose once.! LOLLove my RUM. It's going on 15+ years old and still looks and shoots new.
Built on a Savage action shooting 200gr SBT at 3,092 out the end. Gotten 9 elk with this gun with 2 of them 600+ yards. Bonus - never had to track one. Using an Sig Cross .300 WM this year.
Yes.Not trying to be a jack??? But rum came out in 1999.
Not necessarily. The hammers shoot light for weight comparatively. Not alot of that bullet in direct contact with the barrel- actual bearing surface. A step or two faster powder than normal sometimes is your huckleberry with a hammer. It probably has around 80 rounds through it. I really want to try Retumbo with a 180 Hammer. I'm sure I'll get more speed than I did with H1000.
I wanted a new gun. I still ended up using my RUM this year. 283 yards up hill quartering away left. Came in at the back of the ribs and came out the middle of her neck. Dropped like a rock. The RUM is 10 for 10 on my cow elk hunts. She's not going anywhere. I need more trigger time with my Sig Cross. Why would you change after so much good luck with the 300 RUM...
