utah general elk hunt.
Never had 1st day success on general elk hunts until now.
I was usually the guy getting up @ 4:30 and sitting at my chosen spot by 5:30 just when everything starts getting inky light. And you always have that excitement and anticipation of what the dawn is going to bring.
Usually it is over much to quickly listening to other people's gun shots and hopefully wishing they just pushed the game to you.
And ending back at camp by 11 for breakfast and a nap until 3:30 for a evening hunt.
It usually takes me until after the 1st weekend to get a opportunity on a elk.
Unfortunately it's not exactly everything I hoped for because now I figured that since I had a whole 2 weeks vacation I could spend the time butchering my elk .
I think I'd rather still be trying to find one and pay the butcher on the last day then putting myself through the work of cutting and wrapping.
Oh well I'm still not at work and at least I can drink beer while butchering.
🥂
