Yes it's expensive for a factory rifle but...

One of the points to consider (if it's important to you) is the factor of it being a straight pull action. The other being a wood stock featuring a 'rosewood' finish. In fine rifles available here in the U.S., we are basically limited to the Savage Impulse. The one I was able to use for an extended period of time didn't impress me.

Here are 3 others but not available here:

Here is a pretty good list of most of the models available since the late 1800s (yes late 1800s):

I have a couple of the real oldies which I still have occasion to hunt with. Smooth operating and can be very accurate within reason, not benchrest but hunting. The K-31 Swiss regained an immense popularity a few years ago, driving up the prices and deleting most of the availability world-wide. Harder to find currently and extravagantly overpriced on occasion. I'm seeing $500 - to well over $1,000 offered by the sincerely greedy.

One of the newer versions of the straight pull though is the Beretta BRX-1. I might find this interesting enough to try it out. $1500 - $1600 approximately. Until then my oldies but goodies work just fine!

ADDED:

The Strasser 'builder action' is listed as being $1745 USD.

:)
