I need to try them Lazers out !We are presently running edge on 28" proof barrel with 265-275 grain lazers. Shoots well.
Can't help you yet. we just received several .338 barrels from Kreiger. the lightest one weighs in at 20# 4 oz. We do had a few 1.45" to 1" @33" that are lighter. As I picked up another LH LA 700 in 270 I have been thinking lets go big. I have a 26" 300 wm that I enjoy but want to go 338 route for a target/hunting rifle. 12-15lbs. I can get a magnum bolt and will be using a Remage type barrel. I see the Sherman line
338 Sherman
338 Mega
338 Max
338 win mag
338 edge
Plan to use either Sierra 250 or Hornady 230 eldx
I guess my Dream Hunting 338 Edge would be a 26" 1/9 twist Carbon barrel Ti-Pro 4 or 5 St brake . I would be looking at the 270 gr , 285 gr bullets .

..that R-700 action is like 'mothers milk', once they are cleaned up they are as good as anything you can buy for many times their price...I own at least 20 of them done in every imaginable cartridge for competition level benchrest from 100-1000...none of them are afraid when sitting at the line..Edge shooter here. I'm using a Rem 700 action because I got it for next to nothing. Smith recut it, put a PTG bolt in it, side bolt release, opened it up for a 4" Wyatt's mag box and Obendorf bottom metal. I shoot Berger 250 grn Elite Hunters. Absolutely no regrets with this rifle.
