So, I do not misconstrue your post; you want to solve the feeding issue and remain BDL.
Get you some dummy rounds and see how it feeds. 6.5x55 will feed like it's greased. I've built a 6x284 on a Mauser and didn't have any feeding trouble, might have to open the radius under the feed rails slightly. I had to do that on a 404 Jeffery I built on a 1917 enfield. I imagine the 6.5 rpm would feed better than the 284 case since it's longer.

Yea, I like the BDL. I don't know if I'll have a feed issue or not. I may buy some cases and give it a try.

Why not go to a 6.5 Sherman if you are already running a 300 Sherman and want a hot 6.5mm.
I have a .30 Gibbs, which is similar to the .300 Sherman. If you have no feeding issues with the .300 Sherman, you should not have any issues with the 6.5 RPM, which will also give more case capacity.

I would consider that. I kind of struggled with the 300 Sherman, but might try the 6.5. Feeding would be a sure thing.
Did you have any feeding issues when it was .30-06?

No.
It might be a feed rail/ramp issue, but it is hard to troubleshoot if we do not know the actual feeding issue. Perhaps a picture or video of your issue might help.

I went from 30-06 (donor rifle) to 338-06 with zero changes to anything and zero issues feeding any bullets.
When I altered a 284 Winchester rifle to accept 25-06 cases, the cases would not stay in the magazine and tried jumping out everytime the bolt was to the rear. Put 284 cartridges in and no issue, started measuring everything and the feed rails were wider for the 284 case.
Unless you are going smaller or larger in case diameter, I don't think you will have an issue.
However, I have seen mismatched bolt faces when going from US based cases to 6.5x55 Swedish, it is larger than 30-06, so just be aware, especially European cartridges.

I have a Kimber 84L Hunter in .30-06 that my GS re-chambered to .30 Gibbs without any feeding issues. As stated above, we need more pertinent information from the OP, similar to what you provided, to help troubleshoot the problem. The sharper shoulder angle and shorter neck of the .30 Gibbs did not cause any feed issues.

I agree, however, I have several AI and Improved cases and most need no altering to feed, however, the feed ramps on my CZ 550 Safari Magnums required polishing and re-shaping to feed the cartridges at a max of 4". Due to this, I altered the actions to be single shots and negate feeding from the magazine, which is supposed to be the ONLY way to feed these from stock, but I altered the claw extractors to slip over the rim.

Yep, this is the kind of information needed. My .270 AI was a Savage 110 LA with an internal mag. It did not require any work for proper feeding. My .30 Gibbs is a DBM, and it also did not require any work. However, my .30 Lara (DBM AI mag) required a minor magazine lip adjustment to feed properly—it was feeding nose down.
