Hey everyone,

Time to get an additional barrel made for my son's hunting rig. I am going to do a 6-6.5PRC/6PRC as his second barrel on his gun. I am struggling to find anyone who offers this chambering from my normal barrel makers. Who has anyone used to chamber their 6PRC? I plan to shoot 109 hybrids and 110 A tips. I have just at 3 inches in the magazine on this setup.

Anyone have a good barrel maker they used for this cartridge?

Travis at TS customs, standard free bore runs 90 grain/87 grain/80 grain bullets awesome. but ask for the .180 FB for the longer bullets

The problem is it is not a saami round. Still a wildcat I believe. So the barrel makers that do prefits will not have them. You will need a gunsmith that does custom work and has a reamer or you will need to buy one and a barrel blank and bring it to your gunsmith.

99% sure TSCustoms offers a 6PRC. 99% sure he and a ton of his buddies shoot them for predator hunting.

I haven't found too many with the 6 PRC reamer was actually the issue. What is LRI? So I can reach out to Chad.

Yes, he should still have a reamer. Call, or email and ask for a quote.

If anyone is unsure whether TS Customs does 6 PRC

As stated above, it's very unlikely that barrel makers will have this reamer in their inventory due to the fact that this cartridge is still a wildcat.

Wildcats are a little slippery since there are no established dimensions, usually for the throat and free bore. This means that you will find variations of the reamer with different dimensions based on particular bullet designs. Essentially this suggests that you will be working with custom gunsmiths. You need to locate the ones who do have a reamer then determine if their reamer dimensions work for the bullets you want use. Some will have a basic reamer but use throating reamers for custom dimensions.

Consider that there are also cartridges very similar to the 6-6.5 PRC just not as popular currently as the PRC format...

There is the longtime favorite 6-6.5 x 284 or the 6-6.5 SAUM. These cases have very similar capacity and mostly similar lengths with the x284 case being slightly longer. Velocities will be in the same range as the PRC case. It will be easier to find these reamers than the PRC variation.

Either find a good gunsmith with the reamer(s) or order your own reamer and buy a barrel. There are no shortcuts for prefits or factory chambers.

Enjoy the search!

:)

I decided to call straight jacket who has done most of my barrels and they have a 6PRC reamer so I got it sorted. Does anyone by chance know the bushing sizes they used to step the 6.5 PRC brass to 6mm?
