I have used Berger 180gr Hybrids for the past 12 years for deer, elk, moose, eland, crocodile and other African game with great success. Accuracy and penetration has been excellent. As a hunter, my success has been due to the bullet's construction, shot placement at high shoulder or lungs and a lot of shooting practice. Although all shooters have an opinion regarding the ideal bullet, my experience with Bergen's 180 Hybrids justifies my choice…No need to worry about the 180's performance.purchased a Gunwerks nexus in 7mm prc. It's a very nice gun. I ordered some hunting bullets for it through Gunwerks. They sent Berger 180 gr Hybrid Target bullets. When I asked them about using the Target Bullets for hunting they said they actually work better because they are more accurate. Any thoughts on this. Im nervous to take a chance on big game with these. Berger bullets advises against it.
Bergers work. Just don't shoulder shoot animals on purpose with them.
Any way you can describe or better show where you are aiming on a broadside shoulder shot?View attachment 605048

Both of these bulls were shot within seconds of each other with 180 Hybrids directly through the front shoulders, on purpose. Just like everything else for the last decade somehow the bullets didn't just bounce off.
Directly in-line with the front leg, 1/3-1/2 of the way up from bottom of their chest if they're perfecty broadside.Any way you can describe or better show where you are aiming on a broadside shoulder shot?
I have used the 144 Hybrids on whitetail and they work great. Usually a lot of bloodshot meat on the far side but never had to track one. I know several people that use the 130 OTMs with great success.Has anyone used the 6mm or 6.5mm for hunting? Very interested in feedback. Thank you
Thank you. Does that placement hit the front part of the heart/lung area? What are you trying to take out that kills an elk? A bit farther back is a lung shot. Through the lungs kills anything.Directly in-line with the front leg, 1/3-1/2 of the way up from bottom of their chest if they're perfecty broadside.
Typically shreds the lungs and damages the heart.Thank you. Does that placement hit the front part of the heart/lung area? What are you trying to take out that kills an elk? A bit farther back is a lung shot. Through the lungs kills anything.
Does it usually break any bones? Leg bones, shoulder blade? Are you aiming for bones or heart/lungs? I hear shoulder shot and my mind goes to breaking bones.Typically shreds the lungs and damages the heart.
I'm aiming for vital organs, any bones in the way get broken/penetrated as a result. Based on your questions it seems that you haven't had significant experience with shoulder shots?Does it usually break any bones? Leg bones, shoulder blade? Are you aiming for bones or heart/lungs?
