264 Winn 127 LRX

They shot pretty decent out of my 24" X-Caliber (Savage Prefit). Pretty reliably 0.9-1.1 MOA (statistically significant group sizes and number of groups).

24", 1:8 twist
~3250-3275 fps
~66-67 gr of Retumbo

I loaded them for a buddy who wanted to borrow my rifle, but who's against lead bullets. He flattened a white tail at about 90 yards with one. He sent me a picture of the blood "trail", and it looked like something out of a horror movie. Deer death sprinted about 40 yards, and lost about 40 quarts...

Im going to give the 127 LRX and the 156 Berger a try see which ones shot the best. My barrel is a 1.75 twist. I have a PRC also that shots 140 grn bullets at 3100 fps so im looking at doing so real world fps comparing.

1.75" twist? The 156 Berger thrives in 1:8' or faster. My .264 WM is 1:7" 26" built for the heavies, but I am still working on load development (pressure testing).

Yes its a 1.75 twist preferred blank barrel. I got from a member here that had it installed. I haven't shot it yet but look forward to working with the 264. I have worked with the 257 Weatherby and the 7 mm mag but never the 264 so it will be nice to try something different. I got some Retumbo,h1000 , ramshot magnum, and R26 so i have a few choices.

WOWZER! I know that Berger recommends 1:8" or faster, but you might want to consult with them. I am interested in what they come up with. Below is what I got from Berger.

OK, I got curious and investigated their website (https://preferredbarrelblanks.com/product/contoured-barrel-blanks/), and they offer 1:7", 1:7.5", and 1:8" in 5R.

Did you mean 1:7.5" inches instead of 1.75? 1-.75 = 1:7.5"

Do you mean 1:7.5"?

H1000 sure is easier on throats than most other powders, so is N160 and N165.

I found accuracy nodes quickly in two custom 9T 6.5s, a 6.5x55 and 6.5/06. Oddly both were super accurate at 3150 fps. The 6.5/06 was using 52-53g of R#22, and the 6.5x55 is using R#26 with a CCI 250 primer, .5g below a max load for that barrel in Lapua brass. I started off jumping the 127 LR .050 from the lands, and I never had to make a bullet seating adjustment.

Of course, when these barrels are shot out, they will be 8T.
