Did you miss the part he was successful? That was in the 2020's.
This thread is getting downright nasty. We all have our own opinions whatever they're worth. Unfortunately things are said from opinion and some are said from fact but that doesn't excuse us, brothers in the sport, from insulting each other.Did you miss the part he was successful? That was in the 2020's.
The question is whether the 30-06 1/10 twist barrel will stabilize the 124 gr bullet. I've never tried it. Has anybody? With the 30cals it's not gonna come up much. In a 270 for example the bullet weights you use will tend to be lighter than you may be used too.
Either way the 124s in a 30-06 are lasers…

The data was from a 7mm/08, Not quite the same as a 30-06.Several Have and it appears to work.
Hopefully you can open the attachment
Wow, that seems hot even for a 300 RUM. Roy Weatherby supposedly killed a cape buffalo with the 257 bee. Your load blows away the bee. I'd take on anything with that.Fruit nut, I have a load in my 300RUM shooting a 154HHT @ 3895 fps (26" barrel", have not put it in an animal yet, but it hammers steel with authority and leaves a deep crater in it. Looking to pound a good boar black bear with it!

If you loaded the 153 Apex to same velocity, you'd have an extra 230 fps at 1,000 yds due to higher BC. In an 8 twist I'd load the 194 Apex and arrive at 1,000 yds with nearly 300 more fps and an extra 900 ft lb of energy. I just might get a 300 7 twist and see what I can do. But really my 6.5 SAUM does all I need. 116 gr Apex at 3400 is nothing to sneeze at. Esp given I seldom shoot past 500 yards at my age.
Does anyone sell a tight twist 300 RUM?
scrolled down and it appears that they shoot OK although the velocity seems somewhat disappointing. The data is about 100 pages long, you have to scroll down until you get to 30 caliber 124HH
