Barnes 130 grain TTSX in .30 06??

3260 fps 26" bbl. 55gr. IMR-4166 130gr. TTSX, WLR, federal cases. COL=3.35" they group well, but no critters yet.
Max game shooting range should be where the bullet still is going fast enough to fully expand, in my opinion. Barnes says expansion initiates at 1800 fps. So I give it some room to fully expand and figure my longest range for game is where the bullet hits 2200 fps. that gives 400 fps of margin on getting it to expand after impact. that may be a bit conservative, but so be it.

55gr. IMR-4166 130gr. TTSX WLR RP cases. avg mv = 3259fps. 26" tube. as pointed out 4064 may give more mv but i was looking for a copper removing powder that has low temp sensitivity. IMR-4166 was the closest of them for burn rate that i could see that combined a copper removing agent with low temp sensitivity. So it may not be optimum for max mv but it's working.

Here is the result of a Barnes 130 TSX out out a 20" Remington .308 ~3100fps.
Antelope at 130 yards, broadside, entered left lung, exit right lung.
Buck staggered backward and flipped over on its back.

Your .30-06 will be fine.

For fun and potentially as my hunting round for deer season here in TN, I am going to load up some 130 grain TTSX over some Accurate 4064.

Potential for 3200 FPS and reviews I've read online say it kills deer like lightning out of a .30 06.

Anyone load 130 grain TTSX in a .30 06 before?
I used to load 130g Speer several years ago for 30-06 and IMR4064.
And out to 400 they were brutal on deer

Using 130gn Speer's in the '06 over 58gn of AR2208, sold as Varget in the US has been the best introduction test I have seen for a .30/06.

When I learned it, I was told to toss the rifle away if it doesn't put 5 under the inch at 100yd. It did so I bedded it and still have it over 30 years later.

The Oehler reported 3300fps with the Speer. Same load with the TTSX recorded a little less as the powder batch was a little slower these days. Have noticed that with several powders within that similar burning rate over recent years.
