Once fired brass has flat lines/spots running the length of the brass.. Any ideas what this is? Unfinished chamber from the factory maybe? It's my friend gun and shoots decent but **** the brass looks horrible and is very difficult to resize.

Looks like burrs around the back end of the chamber scratching the brass, I agree with previous posters. Box it up and send it back to Ruger. My gen 2 doesn't have any issues that I have noticed and so far, shoots very well with limited load development.

I have a bolt action mossberg that takes AR style magazines and when I cycle the bolt back, the catch on the bottom of the bolt that feeds the next round, drags across the cartridge below and leaves a line across the shell. While this drives me crazy, it's part of how my rifle works. I'm not familiar with the Rugers, but wasn't sure if this info helps or not.
