Basspro messed up - Leupold XV6

Hey all, new to the forum here!

I'd like to get some opinions on something- I ordered a Leupold XV6-HD 4-24 x 52 scope from Basspro last week.
I originally ordered the FireDot version but I received the illuminated TMOA version instead.

Should I just keep it?

I struggle to find use in the TMOA version because the scope is a second focal plane scope. Am I missing something? The TMOA version is $200 more expensive than the FireDot.

Reticle is easy to use in SFP too..
Subtensions are:
1 MOA @ 24x
2 MOA @ 12x
4 MOA @ 6x
6 MOA @ 4X

I wouldn't say that's easy. Easy for me and you, sure but imagine not having that much experience, that you post a question like this on a forum. Putting myself in the OP's shoes.

Then you go hunting, miss, and you try to calculate your miss in your reticle using a second focal plain…so you look at your scope, and you're at 13.2x magnification and a 3 moa miss in the optic reticle…

If you're using the reticle for drop and wind, that's cool. but how you have to correct subtension conversion like you were saying, as well as your dope. It makes more sense to use a front focal if that's how you're going to be using a scope. Front focal, you just dial whatever magnification you need to see the target, dial and or hold your dope, press the trigger and you're done. None of the extra BS.

If you like the other one better take it back who cares if it's technically worth more.

No reason to settle. Send it back, get the one you want.

The firedot is kind of wide if you are shooting long range but is fine inside say 500 yards.

My old man likes to say, "a good deal on the wrong thing, is not a good deal". If its not what you want, send it back.

If it were me (and it's not) I'd keep the TMOA reticle scope. It's reticle is more useable.

I have the Fire Dot and have shot it to 1,100 yards on steel. I prefer a reticle such as the Wind Plex or TMOA over the FD, which I have also shot to 1,100 yds.

Send it back and get the firedot they are awesome

I love the TMOA more than my fire dot. Both are VX6 3-18x56

I also have the one you have in your hands. I wouldn't trade it for a fire dot.

Fire dot is just too fat for my liking. I rarely use the illumination on any scope anyway.

I have illuminated TMOA and FireDot reticles. Both are excellent. I would keep the TMOA.

There are two mistakes made here one of them you will have to answer to god for send it back.

I wouldn't keep it because it's "worth more". I would keep it because I wouldn't want the hassle or the wait period of sending back and receiving new product, and the reticle is better IMO.
