How short is too short?

I use cfe blk for subs-- iirc I wasn't getting complete burn with 5744, I use h110 with supers . I'd have to check. But I think i tried 4 powders with subs before i settled on the cfk blk. I'm at 13 grains with a subsonic expanding mono (195gr) so if you go with a 5" barrel you might need a bit more for optimal mv
What is your super load, with H110?

Coming along, brace adapter next

I have a 8.5" barrel 300 BO in an AR platform the I shoot suppressed. With A1680 there doesn't seem to be any unburnt powder in the barrel or an issues with cycling. The accuracy is also quite good to 100 yards, beyond that range she really starts to drop. I personally wouldn't go with a shorter barrel.

I was prepping brass today for 90gr. Xtp bullet rounds to test drop from 25 yards to 100 yards

First range day!

Found my holds at 25,50,75,100 yards

25 yards and 50 yards hold center
75 yards hold 3rd drop hash
100 hold 3" high with top of bottom heavy duplex

Was getting some 3 shot 1 hole groups out to 75 and at 100 I could get 2 to touch and pull 3rd slightly!

Not bad for 90gr pistol bullets subs

What Vortex scope are you using?
I have used the Crossfire 3 x 9, didn't much like the glass. I had a Diamondback Tactical 4 - 16 x 44 on my Tikka T1x .22 but recently upgraded to a Diamondback 6 - 24 x 50 for long range rimfire shooting. The Winchster XPR in 6.8 Western also has a Diamondback Tactcal 6 - 24 x 50. The Tikka T3x 270 also has a Diamondback 6 - 24-x 50. On the Tikka T3 30-06 P have a Strike Eagle 5 - 25 x 56. When I get done updating the Remington 700 338 Win Mag it will be getting another Strike Eagle 5 - 25 x 56. The Strike Eagle is by far the best of the group. I also have a Winchester Model 70, 308 that has a Crossfire II 4 - 12 x 44.

I have tried Leupold, Redfield, Bushnell and Burris over the years but overall I much prefere the Vortex.
