I bought some PRVI 25-06 rounds just to have some ammo to start with. These necks are .283-.284 OD.

Now my new barrel is not chambered yet, but the Sammi chamber neck is .292-.291 OD

That seems like a lot of neck clearance.

So I would like to ask what 25-06 brass you folks run, and what is the loaded neck OD ?

What I'm ultimately wondering is if I should order a reamer with a little tighter neck.

Or is the PRVI brass smaller than most other brass ?

"rounds" implies loaded live ammo.
If you meant new brass to reload then the necks will already be sized to press fit the bullet which will make the neck sammi spec.

I'm using .281-.282 bushings in my 25 Sherman LA with Peterson brass.
Necked down from 280AI.
Phil, so that's your OD before the bullet goes in ? Which would end up .002-.003 bigger ?
That would put it pretty close to the PRVI stuff I bought.

Koda, yes this is live ammo.
I have some live Hornady American Whitetail factory ammo neck OD that measures .285" on the neck. Hornady brass of course.

My handload that I'm developing is using Nosler brass and neck OD measures .286" with my bullet seated.

I personally wouldn't worry about the PRVI brass ammo, sammi spec for the neck diameter is +0/-.008" its in tolerance. But definitely do not get a custom reamer to fit one brand of ammo.

My PPU brass is .284-.285 and 270 Peterson necked down is .287-.288

I have always used 270 Win brass trimmed and necked down for my multiple 25-06s…gets me in the .287-.288 range for a loaded round in what I believe are .291 chambers…...mostly 1/2 to 3/4 moa and significantly under that if I "benchrest" prep and sort brass (with the favor of the wind gods)
25-06 my favorite cartridge…perfect for all things Nevada.

25/06 PPU brass is my preferred brass. The USA brass base diameters are not in line with where they should be. All US brass is at the bottom of SAAMI and create ugly bulges at the base. I'm sure it's that way "so it'll fit anything". Shoot the PPU, it'll be fine.
