You can see the part of the extractor sticking into the bolt face. When the bolt does close with a piece of brass it shaves the rim a little bit. Thanks for the reply.

Wow that looks beat to ****. Tooling is weak if that's a new bolt face. Terrible QC to let that go.

I'm going to get a sako style extractor installed and forget about getting a new one from Remington. I talked to the local gunsmith and I believe that's the best option. Thanks for the reply.

I prefer an M16 style extractor, but, yes, that is what I do with all my Rem 700s. original extractor design is weak point.

Did you replace the extractor or take it out and re-bend it to fix the issue? I read that you should always replace it with a new one once removed. I personally have zero experience with this so I don't know. The more I read the more I realize I don't want to jump the gun by getting a Sako style installed. Thanks.

You can't reuse the extractor once it is removed. Just insert a new one. PTG has them for less than 20 bucks. Just make sure to stick it in in the right way.
