You can see the part of the extractor sticking into the bolt face. When the bolt does close with a piece of brass it shaves the rim a little bit. Thanks for the reply.

Wow that looks beat to ****. Tooling is weak if that's a new bolt face. Terrible QC to let that go.

I'm going to get a sako style extractor installed and forget about getting a new one from Remington. I talked to the local gunsmith and I believe that's the best option. Thanks for the reply.Wow that looks beat to ****. Tooling is weak if that's a new bolt face. Terrible QC to let that go.
Did you replace the extractor or take it out and re-bend it to fix the issue? I read that you should always replace it with a new one once removed. I personally have zero experience with this so I don't know. The more I read the more I realize I don't want to jump the gun by getting a Sako style installed. Thanks.I'm the same as RodBolt. Never had any issues with an extractor on my 700s or mdl 7s and that covers quite a few, as my entire family hunts with them. Have fixed a few for others alone the way though
Thank you very much for the lead. I'll call Monday to make sure they have them in stock. Take care. You can't reuse the extractor once it is removed. Just insert a new one. PTG has them for less than 20 bucks. Just make sure to stick it in in the right way.
