Mongolia - flight routes, airlines, firearm considerations

Turkish thru Istanbul is the way to go for sure! Shawn at Gracy books ALL my travel and I second Turkish business class.. Not only is it a lot more comfortable, you are - without question - treated better in regards to checking in, luggage handling, security, etc.. It may not be fair but it IS reality…

The TURKISH AIRLINES Lounge, which is available to business class is world class.

Absolutely agree!! They even have a slot car track in the lounge!

When I flew Turkish to Mongolia in 2022 they allowed ammo to be in the gun case. This year it had to be in a separate locked case. Both cases got large "Security Item" stickers. Pretty sure those items get special handling.

Back in 1999 I flew into Beijing - my meet and greet met me at baggage claim and then we brought my rifle and ammo to the police station in the airport. Next day we went back, I picked up my rifle, and flew to UB, then into Hovd.

I don't know when China stopped allowing this, but the most common route I have seen is via Seoul. Going thru Istanbul is a long haul...
