Any good 80 lb bows come out recently?

I still rock an old bowtech CPXL coming in at 82#. I love those cam designs for yoke tuning but i'm not a speed chaser. my elk arrows were 640gr and with 200gr heads those same arrows come in at 720gr. I shoot the 640s at around 275fps IIRC. haven't chrono'd the 720gr version.

I just got back from south africa this week where i shot a cape buffalo and eland with the cpxl. the buff took the arrow in the shoulder and buried to the fletchings, it zipped straight through the eland. I have both shots on video i will eventually post somewhere. I was using iron will 200gr single bevel "buff" heads (no bleeders).

For arrows that spine out correctly there are not many. I use gold tip kinetic kaos .200s. 100gr inserts, footers, and IWs. they're tough as nails. There are a few on the market now, black eagle has some .150s, and there are some newer arrow companies out with stiff arrows, but i haven't been checking into the latest and greatest stuff for a while.

Every couple of years i will wander into a shop with my bow, shoot a couple of the new ones, shoot mine, then pack mine up and go home. I haven't found enough difference in shootability or technology to justify retiring the old cpxl yet; nor for paying new prices on flagship models.

dam, I went to type that the Insanity wasn't that old. It use to be a flagship bow 10 or so years ago, then. Guess it's a little old but a lot of the newer ones are based on that.

My bow the revolt x80 is a long draw I'm pretty sure. 34 inch axle to axle.

I use victory arrow 4mm arrow called VAPs in a 250 spine. I get them blank, cut and fletch them. 3 degree right helical with TAC vanes.

I set my self up for those further shots with large wind gust.

Whats your draw length?

Some of those hatchet cams like the bowtech rpm 360 was fine at my buddy's 28". When i tried it at 30 it was way, way worse. Not saying thats the case here but i have experienced it.
 
80lbs just a memory for me, it was great for 20 years but I'm 66 now things change not to mention my draw weight. I have shot the Hoyt Aspen 32" draw for 25 years about 5 years ago I had to back my bow down to 73-75 lbs. I have tried out Mathews Lift 33 and was impressed with the 80% let off, considering the Aspen only has 65%.
I'm not married to Hoyt but I have shot them for close to 40 years it was very tempting to buy the Lift. Hoyt has a couple of bows that would work for me but the one that I am interested in is the Highline. So I'm curious if anyone has shot both bows the Lift and the Highline and what your options were between the two.

I have the lift 33 80lbs with 85% let off. I'm shooting 28 1/2 draw and 515gn arrows at 282. On my garmin sight I can get out to 90 yards without having to dial anything. Be interesting to see what I could get to with like maybe a 420-430 gn arrow

Soon as my local bow store gets my 80lb mods in I'll let you know what mine does with 425 grain arrows. BUUUUT, my wingspan is a little more than yours , so I'm gonna pick up a little more

It's been a long time since Mathews has impressed me with a bow. Today that changed.
Finally got the lift put together. 31.5" dl. 80 lb.
426 grain arrows were a consistent 338-338.8 over the Garmin. 451 grain arrows only dropped to330 fps.

Look for roughly 1 fps for every 3 grains of arrow weight, either direction. At 425 grains I'd put you right around 310-315 fps. 615 grains would put you around 250 fps. Look for around 2 fps per pound of draw weight, drop 70 # mods in your bow and your 515 grain arrow would be flying around 260 fps. My Phase 4 33 at 70 pounds and 28.5" draw is shooting exactly 280 fps with a 437 grain arrow, when I tested the Lift 33 at 70 and 28.5 draw with my arrows it was 5-7 fps faster, that was on launch day for the bow so long enough ago that I don't remember exactly. The Lift is a sweet bow.
