Given lapua makes the best brass;

Norma seems to be a good second tier brass

Weatherby brass, while manufactured in Sweden, is claimed to be softer and not capable of 65k psi loads

What is actually up here?

Norma makes Weatherby brass. I push the limits in my 6.5-300 Wby and have not experienced any issues with the Weatherby brass through three firings. I did experience an accidental overcharge which locked up the bolt. Primer pocket was shot, but then I suspect the other brands of brass would have suffered the same fate.

I heard rumors of hornady is making weatherby brass the last couple years. Don't know if that's true or not. I also heard that Peterson made some brass for weatherby.

Norma makes brass for many other manufacturers, so guessing isn't gonna help.
Norma definitely make Weatherby brass, either headstamp and the brass is identical in weight/volume and web thickness.
If you have different weights, then I would suspect the heavier to be made elsewhere.
I have batches of Norma 416 Rigby cases that span 30+ years, the only difference is newer batches have a 45° bevel cut on the outside of the rim, older brass is square on the rim.
Have both Weatherby and Norma brand cases in 257Bee, 270Bee, 300Bee, 340Bee & 375Bee, all differ very little between headstamps, yet my 338-06 Weatherby brass is different to everything, go figure…
Was told, not sure if true, that it might be Lapua made.

Cheers.
