Which one would produce higher velocities with a 20 inch barrel?

I'd would assume the 284 case has more volume therefore more speed but I don't have much data or information on the Saw cartridges to know for sure.

Anyone have experience with the Saw cartridges?

No experience with the SAW. Also my 25-284 has a 25" barrel with a 1-7.25" twist. I get 3160 FPS with a 131 BJ and R26.

25x284 is going to do what a 25-06 will do but in a shorter COAL. Still would probably run it in a long action though.

You might be able to look for 25 souper data and kinda sorta extrapolate data on the 25saw that way.

Or call Clayton at West Texas Ordinance. I'm sure he probably has some info on the saw offspring.

I do not have experience in both, but as you noted, depending on the source, the .284 Win (66g of H2O) case has the case capacity advantage over the 7MM SAW (parent case 7MM-08). 7MM-08 has 52g of H20. The 7MM SAW will have more capacity than its parent case (https://westtexordnance.com/7mm-saw/).

I had a 25/284 on a Mauser 98 action to allow me to utilize the added case capacity.
I still have a 25 Souper AKA 25/308.
I also have a 257 Roberts and a 25/06.
I sold my 25/284 as it really just matched a 25/06 and brass is so much easier to get for a 25/06.
I also prefer a 257 Roberts over the 25 Souper.
In a modern rifle I would think you want a short action to take advantage of the 25 Saw.
My favorite 25 cartridge is the 257 Roberts even though it gives up 100-150 fps to the 25/284 or 25/06.

Mostly 133-135, and maybe 145 grain.
I have a .257 WBY 22" 1:7" specifically built for the heavies.
