Got a question for you folks with Tikkas. Anyone have a low mounted scope with target/tactical turrets? I've got a Browning A-Bolt that I was going to mount one on but the ejection angle doesn't lend itself to easy ejection. I was thinking of getting into a Tikka for this and the extra mag length (WSM). Can you mount a big 30mm low on one of these without hitting the scope?

I haven't had one hit a scope yet but I also have not really concentrated on it, I know last night I was looking at the ejection cycle on one with a new case and it was tossing them low and mild which I like.

That's my main issue with the Browning; it throws the brass up at about a 45° angle and hits the windage turret on my Elite Tactical. 1" tubes or low profile caps were no issue.

You should call/email Talley and ask. I have had similar questions and they have been prompt and spot on with correct answers twice in the last year.

I've had scopes pretty low on several tikka's. I haven't had any issues with the brass hitting the scope. I believe it comes out of the rifle at a nice 90deg or lower from the port. most of the time, if I'm running hard, the brass seems to come out at about 4 o'clock on the rifle and down at an angle, no upwards as you describe on the browning.

The only tikka guy I personally know shoots a 6.5 creedmoor with talleys and a Viper PST Gen2 scope. No issues with ejected brass hitting the windage. The rings are the lowest he could buy

Good info guys. I like running Talley's for simplicity and cleanliness so this is encouraging. Just got a new B&C stock for the Tikka (the brown with black web looks awesome by the way, almost has a plum hue to it).

Now I just need the Tikka lol :D

I've got a 34mm ATACR on top of a tikka action. No problems with brass hitting upon ejection. That's with low rings on a pic. Rail.

Had a nice Tikka for a few years with a 4-16X50 almost touching the barrel with no ejection problems. Sold it to my nephew to hunt javelina. As a side note, that Tikka had the smoothest barrel I've ever run my borescope down. Wish other manufacturers barrels were as nice. Think you may like a Tikka.

I had an SWFA 3-15 on my Tikka CTR. Empty brass would hit the big windage knob and fall back into the ejection port. An SWFA 3-9 did not have this problem.

Just mounted a SWFA 6x MQ in Sportsmatch rings on a T3x this afternoon and will shoot it in a couple of days. Not running a rail and the turrets are decent size. Don't anticipate any trouble, but will report back if I do.

Think you may like a Tikka.

I bought one for my wife before we were married in 270 Win. I never did get around to shooting it and I've since lopped more than an inch off of the length of pull and had the scope scooted way back to fit her. So it's been here a dozen years and I've still never shot it and couldn't anyway, lol. Nice sick action though, wow is it smooth.
