want to make sure on the measurement. do you measure with the extended part of the caliper or the inside part (which seems to be a bit longer) the inside part that I'm talking about is the part of the caliper that is closest to the measurement numbers.

Thanks for sharing your experience. At times I felt like I was almost there. Those Coues deer really present some long shots and will test a shooters marksmenship.. That's an experience of a lifetime!

Jason, thanks for your comments, but this guys is a little on the smaller side. Let me share a couple of pictures of a mature 7yr old that I think is probably the biggest deer that I have photographed here in South Texas. Remember that genetics play a big part here as well... Here is a tank:

I want to start off by saying that this is mature buck. To me he's got a full neck blending into the brisket area. My best guess he would be a 5yr old. Good disciplin on letting him go to grow another year. I also enjoy taking photographs of deer and like to watch them mature year after year...

That's got to be some kind of record! Youngest girl I've heard of taking a deer. You have your hands full and she's a cutie... Looks like that's somewhere in southtexas? Hey, 47yds is long range when you are looking through those little eyes at your first deer..... Awesome!!

Actually shot two hogs that weekend and yes the bullet made an exit on both hogs.... Dropped'em like a bolt of lightning! On the picture of the hog is the exit side.....

Here are some 100yd results from my first load for the .270WSM 110gr TSX. I'm gonna tweak it a little to see what it will do, but for now I will leave it and raise the group about 1".. 68.2gr RL-19.... Good group & the gun also has less recoil! Hog taken at 230yds ~ neck shot...
