My elk guide in MT was carrying one in a chest rig. He lives in Alaska most of the year and didn't have anything nice to say about the efficacy of bear spray. Good luck finding a 500 magnum, seems like a heck of a cool gun and the best bear protection you can reasonably carry.

Thanks for reaching out but I'm holding out hope of finding just the thing I'm looking for. I took my first elk with a Browning A-Bolt Medallion, they make great rifles.

That thing is sexy, just not what I'm looking for at the moment. Need something for the wife and oldest kid to shoot deer with. Awesome looking rifle though, thanks for reaching out.

I used the VOR-TX in a 7mag on an elk a few years ago at 350 yards. No fragments, very impressed by the weight retention. I also ran a few rounds from different boxes through the chrono and was amazed at how close they all were in velocity.
