Meplat trimming pf Nosler 180 Grn Partitions

I, too, bow to his experience. Perhaps my QUESTION which shows no experience in my trying it, would have better been called 'burnishing' the OP lead tips straight. (ever run a drill bit in the wrong direction?) An equally simple question was returned to me, and I explained further. The first...

Meplat trimming pf Nosler 180 Grn Partitions

Well, I don't insist. Just a curious thought. I can assume, then, that you haven't tried it, despite passing hasty judgement. Exactly the type of thing that is the tarnish on an otherwise shining forum.

I am aware, but running it in reverse, opposite the cutting surfaces, (if they are not sharp also) might spin form.

Meplat trimming pf Nosler 180 Grn Partitions

Interesting question, at least to me, right now as I read all this: If the problem is just the shape of the lead tip, and others recommend not trimming (or 'cutting' the lead tip [with something like the Sinclair Meplat trimmer]), then is it possible to effectively re-shape the lead by turning...

True hunting buddies do whatever it takes

I have to admit to using my hunting friends shoulder for a rest three times (all successful) on deer. Paybacks may be a b***ch...

New to me issue with brass

So, what's the cure for this? Slower burning powder to maintain positive pressure behind the bullet? Or a charge weight change?

    Lube in necks

My ignorance on this topic makes me wonder if it would be simpler (or just wrong) to lube the bullets rather than the case mouth interior...

.223 Remington semiauto rifles that don't look like ARs

I say do the opposite. Invite all like us to move BACK to California and bring the vote swing back the other way. If we don't, we're just helping them concentrate their liberalism. And they want to run the rest of the country next...

My apologies for my reply (#16). I just re-read the original post (#1), and saw that you had already addressed my guess...

Bottom picture, item on right appears to be some sort of marking pen.... (sorry, had to do it...)

    Mountain merriams

Shot one years ago, that was banded. Called in about the band, and was told about the bird. Spoke to the guy that transplanted it, too. Here in California (yeah, I know...) The Rio Grandes were transplanted decades ago, and took off! Now they're everywhere, including the major valley floor...

    New season opens in Mississippi

Never did the forensics! Too busy with the high-fives. I'll tell you this: flys are DRT. Lizards, however, just get p__sed off (with table salt anyway).

    New season opens in Mississippi

These are great! They even make an add-on laser sight. No joke. The secret to these is to use sea salt. Courser pellets (without signs of overpressure), far superior terminal performance to table salt!

    Request.

For Len. Thanks for all you do (and put up with here). I do have a request that would help me, and others, I'm sure. At the bottom of each page of posts is a slider with arrows to jump to different pages in a thread. It works great, but I have to run to the bottom of a page to get to it. Can you...
