    FFL charges

I don't think it is, but it's what the FFL holder thought was worth it for him to deal with it all.

    Favourite .257 wby powder?

I'll make a note of that and try it next year when I'm done hunting. Right now I'm all set and don't want to change anything before heading out for deer. Thanks!

    Favourite .257 wby powder?

I like 7828 SSC but a 92-grain Hammer with IMR 4350 gives me over 3700 fps and a decent group.

    Oregon Coastal blacktail

Here at home I have my trail cam out next to the orchard. There's a forked horn that comes out to munch on the fallen apples and the grape leaves. He's out around 6:50 am or so patrolling. I'm close to the cascades so your bucks may act a bit different. I hope we get some rain soon. I'm heading...

Congrats! I just got my first here in Oregon with a traditional muzzle loader. I want to try Wyoming sometime in my life.

Lever gun for wife to be hunted with

I'm glad I read this. I was worried by the wording of your title that you were going to hunt your wife with a lever gun. Has she tried any of those calibers you're looking at? Maybe take her to a gun store and see if they have anything that fits and she's comfortable handling.

Why factory ammo for barrel break in?

Way back when, before you were probably born, factory ammo was fairly inexpensive. I've used it to break in rifles and kept the fire-formed brass to reload. These days scrounging for components seems to be the way to go. Good luck in your endeavor and enjoy your new build. :)
