Food Prices and On the Shelves Supply

I can't cook at all. Been getting better lately but man it's tough for me.
Yes you can because you can read. Anyone who can read and follow instructions can cook. If you cannot you simply need better instructions. These guys here will help. Much easier than working up a load for a rifle that's being fussy.

That's sounds like it could go sideways fast. Never tried pickled beets. Sounds weird but I've ate some weird crap and loved it.
Purple onions are sweet but not really strong. I would need something much overpowering to cover up the beet taste. I thought I liked beets once. Turned out they were carrots cooked in grenadine syrup. Looked like beets, stained my plate like beets, tasted good. WS confused until straightened out with the truth.

Now I'm into my new house that's my goal learn to cook. Mainly because I want to be able to use my own wild game more. So much to learn.
Thanks for the encouragement

Get a cook called "Buck, Buck, Moose" by Hank Shaw. There are several other books on cooking game out there also. And check out the cooking section of this forum. I have cooked and eaten critters from opossum, rabbit, hare and squirrels to deer, antelope, caribou and moose. My mouth starts water when I pull the trigger.

Thanks I'll pm you soon. Currently moving a lot of stuff to new house. Hoping to add to a good grill and smoker to my tools for cooking very soon.
No problem. You pm me when you get time with your favorite prey. I'll give you a couple of easy ways to fix it that anyone can do that taste good and will be tender. Then cab branch out. Like I said, easier than learning to load good ammo.

I think I can do this then. I've always left the cooking of the game to my dad growing up. And my wife cooks most everything at home so I mainly get burger made.
Have a bunch of sika, red stag, hogs, and audad in the freezer.
Thanks guys I appreciate the faith and willingness to help.
Great stuff to work with. Just let me know.

I love these kind of threads. I always learn something, or brings to mind something I might have forgotten in my preparation for "what if" scenarios. A few years ago, we bought 2 All American Sun Ovens. We use them all the time. They work great, and you can cook anything you could imagine in them. If properly aimed, with the built it sight, you can reach 300 degrees in no time.

These ovens supplement my cooking ability with Dutch ovens, charcoal grill, and Camp Chef propane camp stoves.

I found out Walmart in Helena Montana gets their shipments on Wednesday so I won't go shopping until late Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Even the day after shipments the shelves are not what they used to be.
We've not encountered any food or staple source issues (in Helena). We don't buy much though- we put up a lot of veggies from our garden and of course a freezer full of proteins.

But no real problems with anything else.

Lately it has been ok in Walmart.I found out the meat arrives on Wednesdays so I shop for meats late that evening and Thursdays.
No distilled water anymore anywhere. We bought a machine that turns tap water into distilled water for cpap and coffee.
Shelves have been ok lately but some days you can't find some things but not like a pics of a store online, looked like a walmart.
Stock up folks,it's coming

When did the last independent grocer go out of business in your town? The last independently owned gas station? Did you have a local pharmacy or was it always CVS?
We brought this on ourselves. We should have run from Walmart years ago; we should have fought them tooth and nail to keep them from gutting every small business in every town they came to.
Now Dollar Stores are putting the nail in the coffin of small business on Main St.
But it was cheaper and more convenient, right?
How's that going for us now?
