We just call them red squirrels, little bigger than chipmunkThem are some cool looking squirrels. They look like a grey/fox squirrel crossed.
Those we call fairydiddles,I nothing on them to eat unlike grays and fox squirrels, still a challenge to hit, almost never sit still.unless you catch one sunning himself.Love eating squirrels very tasty. Nice shooting on those pesky reds.Finished and ready to eat.
What kind of squirrel calls do you use never have trued them I just spot and stalk. DavidI have been squirrel also. I have been using my mossberg 500 410 TSS Turkey gun. I bought it just for squirrel hunting. I dont deer hunt much any more. I like chasing squirrels better. One place on the river has monster acorns tress's. I have killed over 40 squirrels out of it. Still has a bunch of squirrels in the area. They travel a long distance coming to them. One morning I killed 10 or 11 out of there. But muzzle loader season is in. Been in a week goes out today. Headed back over there in the morning to chase some. Arkansas squirrel limit is 12 a day. I used to hate to skin squirrels. So much easier now. Where I grew up we had mostly fox squirrels. Where I live now is mostly grey squirrels. To total different squirrels. Fox squirrels move slow looking around. The greys act like there on meth. Wide open moving coming down the tress's hit the ground in a run. I have several different squirrel calls. A fox squirrels answers a call better than a grey. But a grey will also jumping around barking at the sound.
