Whatā€™s the farthest you have taken a big game animal with a rifle?

Embarrassed to say it but furthest was around 70 yards, I am in MA and only have hunted here and around New England.
This is the view from a blind behind my house in Alabama. How far away can you shoot here? Well if I thread it through some trees about sixty five yards.

Alabama versus Adirondack Park?
How Big Is Adirondack Park in New York?
The largest state park in the U.S. is over six million acres, with more than 10,000 lakes and 30,000 miles of rivers and streams. That's over 9,300 square miles.

To compare its massive size, you could fit Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National Park inside Adirondack Park. It's about the same size as Vermont or New Hampshire.

Where I hunted, 20+ miles to next road. It is really not a long rang opportunity unless you consider bayonet meets that criteria. The farthest I really got to shoot with .270 was maybe 300 across a hardwood ravine and the fellas I hunted with ( 30/30, 35Rrm, 32Spec, 30-06 iron sights) thought I was crazy. Couldn't argue that.

There are 2 tracks that I have driven down beating crap out of truck and arrive at someone's "house". Immediately turned around! šŸ˜‰ I've been to Alabama and yes, banjos are popular in AP. Just sayin.

I shot my furthest this weekend at 465 yards on a whitetail doe. I'm sure I'm not even close to the farthest and probably not even what some consider long range but it's pretty far for me. I used a 6mm creedmoor 88gr hammer hunter 3340fps at muzzle and 2240 estimated at impact.

It got me thinking about how far other people have taken animals. Post em up with what cartridge and loads you used.
Mule deer. 425 yards (about). 1974. Old, decrepid, shot out, with butt plate taped on British .303. Surplus gun and ammo. Only used it once. Took 4 shots to hit it. Open sights. Traded it immediately afterward. šŸ™ƒ

Hmm... the largest park in the US is Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Alaska at 13.2 million acres. But anything over a million is massively huge! But who's counting? I'll never be able to walk or see it all. šŸ¤Ŗ
