Welcome to LongRangeHunting.com Online Magazine and Forums! If you've been here in the past you will notice that we recently updated our software so some things will look a little different than before.

Here are some mini tutorials to help you get up to speed with things like posting your comments, uploading pictures, sending private messages and changing your avatar.

As always, we are here to help so if you have any questions or comments please - Contact Us.

How To Create Your Own Thread

To start a new discussion first decide which forum category your topic would make the most sense in. You wouldn't want to ask a question about elk behavior in the Gunsmithing forum for example.

Once you have selected the best forum and clicked on it, look toward the top right of the screen and click on "Post New Thread". Enter a title for your thread and then enter your text and upload any photos. When you are satisfied, hit Submit.

How to Upload Photos and Files

Everyone appreciates a good photo. Sharing yours is quite easy and the process is the same whether you are replying with a post or creating a new thread.

Below the Reply Box, click on "Upload a File" and then navigate to the photos you want to upload. You will be given the option to have your pictures display as a thumbnail or a full size image. I would recommend displaying full size images so it's easier for everyone to see them.

Uploading an Avatar

Roll over your username at the top right of the page. A dropdown menu will appear. Click on "Avatar" about midway down the menu. Then follow the prompt to upload your chosen image.

Starting a Conversation via Private Messages

In the past on LRH you were able to send a Private Message to another member. You can still do that with our new software but now it's called a "Conversation". It is still private but you can now invite others to the conversation similar to 3-way calling.

In the top right corner of the navbar roll over the Inbox and a drop down will show any existing messages and give you the option to start a new conversation. You will need to know the username of the person or people you want to start a conversation with. As you enter a username the software will begin to autofill to make it a little easier.

How to Quote, Use Multi-Quote, and insert emoticons

To quote a single person simply click Reply to the post and submit.

But if you want to reply to several different posts in your next post you can use the Multi-Quote feature. Click Quote+ for each post you want to reply to even if the thread is very long. When you are ready, click the "Insert Quotes" button in the reply box. A dialogue box will appear and you can address each quote.

To add emoticons to your posts click on the Smiley Face icon and select from several different emotions to help describe how you are feeling.

How to locate your content (posts or threads)

If you want to find something you posted in the past it's quite easy. Just look at "Your Content" under the dropdown of your username.

You can also click on Your Profile Page in the Username dropdown and it will take you to your dedicated user profile page. Click on the Postings tab and at the bottom of of the listing shown it will give you the option to select threads you started only rather than all your posts.

How To Post In An Existing Thread

If you have been reading an interesting forum "thread" of discussion and you would like to add your thoughts or questions, you must first log in as a Registered Member of our website and then you can "post" in our forums. CLICK HERE to register if you have not already done so.

To post your reply to a forum thread, enter the text as you would like it to display in the reply window below the last post on the screen, perhaps upload a few pictures if you would like and then hit "Post Reply".
