Remington 700 long range 7mm rem mag (update)

Neck-size your magnums and you shouldn't have that issue. I do for all of mine.
I gave up neck sizing awhile ago. I've been much happier with a .001 shoulder bump. I dont have to change my routine every few firings because the bolt gets stiff. They slide in like butter and I get to do the same thing every time. Just a preference. This is coming from a guy who used to do nothing but neck size.

I'm trading for this same gun this weekend. 700 lr in 7rm, a coworker/friend has it and I worked up a load for it that was shooting pretty well, 162 eldx, 66g rl22. 3100 with my chrono. Trading a ruger hawkeye 257 roberts for it. Unfortunaltely he's a short dude and cut the stock off to about a 12" lop. I will probably be looking for a stock for it and wonder if anyone knows a good replacement for it. Stockys or Boyds?
I put a Magpul Hunter 700 Stock on a friend's Rem. 700 SPS .308 Win. and he loves it, his Accuracy improved a lot because it fits him better. It's a Quick and Easy drop in stock, got it from our local Sportsman's Warehouse store, with Veterans discount and loyalty points it was under $250

I didn't know Sportsmans had a veteran's discount. I'll have to get it next time. Do you know what percent off? TIA

Good on you!

Wait for it ....................... L;)L!

Oh yeah, and I added the Magpul magazine kit to the Hunter 700 stock.
Sweet Setup. I plan on doing it with one of the Remington 700 Varmint Rifles next for myself , they come with the 26" heavy barrel,
I just need to choose which Caliber to get it in and find it on sale ...

I've been saying this to my shooting buddy everytime I see him smacking the bolt handle to get the case to eject,
Last time I told him " you know your probably going to void the warranty on your Rifle " and he just looks at me with a smerk and keeps beating on it until he finally gets it out, and by that time I've already sent two - three shots down range.
So I figure that he's probably only getting about 1/2 the time shooting as I am ...

I'm with you. I discovered the Redding competition shell holders awhile back. They come in a 5 pack and life has become a lot happier!

Well I've had it out a few times now between 600 and 1357 yards. I think I can say it's a shooter now. Right now my load is a 180 eld-m at 2958 fps. Barrel is still settling so that velocity is going to change. I'm sitting right at 94 rounds right now. I still need to replace that God awful trigger but all in all its shooting pretty well. Here's a couple pics from last nights outing at 1357 yards shooting at the ledge face. That impact dead center of the rock face was on the 4th shot. I was running a .395 bc at 1,000 but for that range I had to adjust to .360 so that's why it took 4 shots. Not sure if my zero is off or if my bc is degrading due to my 9.25 twist barrel. Then there's a pic of 2 back to back impacts. I pulled the 3rd thanks to that retarded lawyer trigger. So anyway it all worked out in the end after that whole fiasco I had. If this barrel continues to shoot well then I'll just shoot it out before replacing it.

For those of you that were following my last thread, I'm here with an update. For those of you who dont know I traded a browning x-bolt 7mm rem mag which shot pretty well for a Remington 700 long range 7mm rem mag. When I get the Remington home, it had a bur in the chamber. Long story short, I had a run around with 2 gun shops and Remington before getting my rifle back 3 weeks later. It was a horror show. I've had it back for a few weeks but hadn't got the chance to shoot it. Well today I took it out with some factory ammo just to break it in using hornady 140 grain American whitetail. I was alittle surprised to say the least. First group I fired wasnt impressive. 1.4 moa. I cleaned the rifle and fired a .995 moa. Not bad it's better. Then it completely suprised me and shot a .249 moa then followed by a .681moa. So far, this rifle shows promise with less than 20 rounds down the pipe and still in break in. It still had the junk x-mark trigger set at 4lbs. The chamber is still scratching my brass in the neck and shoulder area but it's not causing sticky extraction. Seems like she wants to shoot. We'll see how it does when I get some rounds down the pipe and start load development. In case people are wondering, this paper was shot to pieces already with other rifles so my had is covering 6.5 rounds and my other pic is trying to cut them out. Not covering up flyers.
I have an old 7mm RM sendero. I had to send it back also. It shoots as well as the three custom rifles I have. It liked a 162 grain sst @ .077 from lands with 71.1 grains retumbo @ 3050fps. I now shoot a 180 eld @ .050 from lands with 68.5 grains retumbo, nosler brass, 215 gm primer at 2860 fps. I'm very fond of that rifle. I would let one of the custom rifles go before I got rid of it. I did have to get an M16 extractor put in due to ejector problems but it was well worth it.
