If you have been looking for books on long range turkey hunting, you are probably not having a lot of luck. However, there are some books that help lay the foundation and provide some basic information on shotguns and ballistics.

"Turkey Hunter's Tool Kit: Shooting Savvy" by Jay Langston is a great book about turkey shotguns, shooting and patterning. Again, I would not consider Mr. Langston an advocate of long range shots, but he does provide the concepts to help get you there.

Another book that is helpful in understanding how shot behaves is "Shotshells & Ballistics" by John Taylor. Again, the book does not directly instruct you on how to shoot turkeys past 40 yards, but it does contain ballistic tables out to 70 yards for various types of shot (lead, tungsten- polymer, and Hevi –Shot). It also contains general information on shotguns and shotgun patterning.

If I had to pick one, it would be the first one. It focuses directly on turkeys.

The second book takes a more general look at shotguns and is made up mostly of the ballistic tables.
