Long range handgun squirrel thumpers

Over the last few years I have pretty much went handguns for all my hunting. Figured I needed some long range handgun squirrel poppers so I picked these up a while back, aint had a chance to hunt with them yet but this fall will come the reckoning. Top to bottom, S&W model 647 .17hmr, S&W K-22 Masterpiece model 48 .22 magnum, S&W model 648 .22 magnum.

I love the S&W k22's. I purchased mine from a friend 15 years ago and last year he hounded me until I sold it back to him. I am allowed to borrow it occasionally though! lol. Very nice setup's, squirrel's beware

Mine isn't particularly long range but sure is fun to pop them and nuisance rabbits in the garden.

Those are wicked looking hand tools for squirrel removal. Very nice.

I very much agree with putting a scope.
Those critters are pretty small to start with, and further out my ageing eyes don't do so well.

I have a 3-12x44 FFP on my pistol. What scopes do you use?

love the Rem xp's custom and the T/C with 14 in bbl in from the 17's up to the custom JDJ's. Must have some dozen bbls for the TC now. The 17 cal is a wonder on the little guy's

I have a TC with a few different barrels. I guess I will have to get it out and upgrade to additional barrel with scope.

I used a 9 shot High Standard 22lr revolver called a longhorn. 9-9.5" barrel and iron sights. Florida squirrel hunting is rarely a long range game and it is so much easier running around in the woods with a pistol than a rifle.

I have access to a couple very large pecan farms that are kept very well manicure, squirrel see you coming a mile away. This is the only time I use them, under normal conditions I use one of my .22lr revolvers.
