Is my gas tube too short?

Rifle length is tooooooo long for 16" barrel on a 308win. However you could try light weight bcg, buffer and reduced weight spring and it could function? This only a chance of working, bit couldn't tell you for sure. Mid-length would work better than rifle length in this case.

What is the actual length of the rifle gas tube?
You could try a rifle +1", and shorten it, and re-flange it at the correct length

No! Seems like timing would be off for that cartridge? It runs easy with carbine and mid at most (which I have) on a 16. I can't remember the mfg, but there was a gun that had the gb within1-2" of muzzle (di gas)? Never saw it operate, only pics.

Tube length is around 15.25" for a 12.7" standard length rifle gas.

Get a gas tube stretcher…
They're in the same aisle as the wire stretchers…

Or do like my grandpa and use a halftrack to stretch fence
