Fire forming

Given the current "here today, gone tomorrow" situation of retailer component stocks, I wouldn't "waste" bullets by "Jam fireforming."
I would create a false shoulder and then use the COW method to fireform the cases . When you go to the range you can get down to business developing that accurate load.
Don't forget to anneal.
Here are some "jammed" fire forming groups from today. Pretty happy with them. 6.5SS and .300NMI

I have shot the 6.5SS fire forming loads (130 TMK @ 2995fps) out to 1386. Will be doing so again tomorrow. I have hunted with fire forming loads a lot as well.

As for the .300NMI fire forming load (210 VLD @ 2876), I will be trying them out tomorrow too.

Fire forming 6.5SS and .300 NMI went very well today. No need to shy away from fire forming loads with accuracy concerns. Was ringing steel with authority from 580 to 1386 with fire forming loads this morning. The swirling winds at 1386 pushed the 6.5mm 130 TMK around pretty good, but still managed about 70% hits. Anything 1121 and in was a given. The .300NMI w. 210s @ 2876 was crushing steel out to 1386 at will.
