In 17-18 inch barrels I use H-4350 (primary powder) and I use Hybrid 100V.
With my old 17" Krieger 1-8 T, 50.5 grains of H-4350, tight-neck chamber (built by Gre-Tan rifles), chronoed 2775 with 140 A-Max's.
Performed flawlessly in all temps and elevations. Not every barrel/chamber can run this but that barrel did.
thats close to the load i run in my current 6.5x284 but with ar2209 wich has a similar burning rate. i was expecting people to be useing faster burning powders with short barrels.
wow this has got me excited hopfully im going to have 2 rifles with similar loads one short and handy and one for reaching right out there. just to find a doner rifle to build this off thanx for the info Ernie been looking though other posts on this forum and you seam to be a big help to lots of people. keep up the good work.
In my specialty handguns I use H-4831 for my 6-284, H-1000 for my 7 mag ai, H-1000 for my 7SAUM, H-1000 for my 7WSM, and either H-1000 or Retumbo depending on bullet weight for my 338AX
