4X4 Show And Tell!!! You need them for LR shooting!!!

4" and 31's, and a 5 speed manual. Will be upgrading it to a 4.5" long arm, regearing and running 33x10.5/11.5's eventually. With the ratios, a similar year xj set of axles from an auto transmission will be 3:55, and perfect for 33's in a manual. The 5 speeds have 3:07 axles stock
Yup I that's what I'd do. My axles are 3.55. 97 or 98 XJ 8.25 Chrysler rear axle was I think 31 spline so stronger than earlier years. But 3.55's would be perfect. My tires are 33x12.50r15. Both the old ones and the new Achilles.

With 33s, 4.56s are the way to go.
I ran 5.86s in my Jeep w. 39" Red Labels.

I miss my old Ford Bullnose 86 F250. Straight 300-6 4X4 4sp manual with granny gear. Before that I had a OBS 93 F350 4X4 with 460 and C6. Burned a lot of gas scouting for elk, deer, antelope, yote, and especially chucks lol. Pretty dumb, but a ton of fun!

With the 5 speed in an xj, that would be too low unless its a dedicated trail rig. The AX15 maual has a different final output ratio than the AW4 autos that are in the xj's, for those, 4.10 or 4.56's are in fact perfect w/33's. The manual however is better suited with higher gears for a given tire size vs the automatic. Stock, the ax15 comes with 3.07 gears vs the aw4 with 3.55's, but rpm's at 65 are similar between the two in high gear
